DC Trade Solicitations for April 2026 - Absolute Flash and Green Lantern Vol. 2, Superman: Brainiac Reborn Omnibus, Batman by Fraction Vol. 1, Legends Omnibus, Supergirl New 52 Omnibus, Justice League: Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Watchtower

Some six months later, the DC Comics April 2026 trade paperback and hardcover solicitations confirm what was rumored but, y’know, you never know till the book is official and even then not till you have it in your hands — that the Superman: Brainiac Reborn Omnibus is indeed the “Triangle Titles Omnibus Vol. 0” that we’d been hoping for.

Why make it a separate book instead of making it “Triangle Titles Vol. 1”? Was DC that concerned about the “well, actually …” that those issues didn’t specifically have triangles on their covers? Was it something to do with getting to Death of Superman by Vol. 2 and then having more leeway to go back? I don’t know — glad it’s coming, hoping it means some new life for these issues in various forms.

It’s a significant month among regular titles, with Matt Fraction’s Batman Vol. 1: Daylight, Mark Waid’s Superboy-focused Action Comics Vol. 1, and Tom King’s Wonder Woman Vol. 4, plus the second volumes of Absolute Flash Vol. 2 and Absolute Green Lantern Vol. 2. I’ve really heard no word about Greg Rucka’s Cheetah & Cheshire Rob the Watchtower but I am hoping to be delighted.

I was watching Star Trek: Starfleet Academy the other night, and it’s wonderful that the tablet devices are called PADDs, an entirely unintended but still lovely callout to longtime Star Trek scribe Peter David. All of which is to say the next DC Finest collection of PAD’s Supergirl is solicited this month, where things get all the more metaphysical. The New 52 iterations of Detective Comics and Supergirl each get their second and final omnibus volumes. Also wrapping up are the Milestone Compendiums, which I wish would also be offered digital. The Legends Omnibus is fantastically complete, and I’m as eager for it as I am for what other crossover omnibuses might follow. (Surely a Millennium Omnibus would sell like gangbusters!)

Also, Batman/Wonder Woman: The Truth by Jeph Loeb. Are we supposed to understand this takes place in the aftermath of the original “Hush,” or nowadays after “Hush 2”?

Let’s look at the full list.

Absolute Flash Vol. 2 HC

In hardcover and paperback in late June, collecting issues #7–12 by Jeff Lemire with Nick Robles and Travis Moore. I just reviewed Absolute Flash Vol. 1: Of Two Worlds and found it fair but not mind-blowing, but I’m told it improves.

Absolute Green Lantern Vol. 2 HC

Also in hardcover and paperback in early June, the second volume by Al Ewing and Jahnoy Lindsay. Collects issues #7–12; I reviewed Absolute Green Lantern Vol. 1: Without Fear just last month.

Batman Vol. 1: Daylight HC

In early June in hardcover and paperback, collecting issues #1–6 by Matt Fraction and Jorge Jimenez.

Batman: Detective Comics: The New 52 Omnibus Vol. 2 HC

Since the original solicitation, the contents of this book are significantly reduced — now it’s got Detective Comics #25–52, Detective Comics Annual #3, Detective Comics: Endgame #1, Detective Comics: Futures End #1, the “sneak peek” from Convergence: Justice League #1, and a story from the New 52 Secret Origins #2 (surely the “Batman” origin). Previously included, but not now, are Catwoman #27–28, Batgirl #27, Birds of Prey #27–28, Batwing #27, Secret Origins #10, most of which were part of the “Gothtopia” crossover; we’ll see if they’re really out or not.

But irrespective, talk about range – this goes from John Layman’s “Gothtopia” to Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato’s street-level Batman vs. gangs story “Icarus,” to Benjamin Percy and John Paul Leon’s contagion thriller “Terminal,” then Manapul and Buccellato write some equally street-level stories of Batman Jim Gordon parallel to Scott Snyder’s Batman: Superheavy, followed by more of the same from the crackerjack team of Peter Tomasi and Fernando Pasarin.

No idea how this will read all together, but it is some interesting comics. This is Detective Comics Vol. 5: Gothtopia, Detective Comics Vol. 6: Icarus, Detective Comics Vol. 7: Anarky, Detective Comics Vol. 8: Blood of Heroes, and Detective Comics Vol. 9: Gordon at War.

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight: Absolute Edition HC

Up-sized collection Brian Augustyn, Mike Mignola, and Eduardo Barreto’s Gotham by Gaslight and the sequel, Master of the Future. With intro by Mark Waid.

Batman: Under the Red Hood: DC Compact Comics Edition TP

Collects Judd Winick’s Infinite Crisis-era Batman #635–641, #645–650, and Batman Annual#25. I reviewed Batman: Under the Hood and Batman: Under the Hood Vol. 2 in 2006–2007.

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest Deluxe Edition Vol. 1 HC

Coming in fast – is it not since Tom King’s Batman that a series has hit deluxe while it’s still ongoing? Anyway, this is said to be issues #1–11 of the Mark Waid/Dan Mora series (a fix from the previous listing, which said it ended with #10), collecting the World’s Finest Vol. 1: The Devil Nezha and World’s Finest Vol. 2: Strange Visitor, with intros by Waid and Mora.

Camelot 3000 TP

Collects the classic 12-issue miniseries by Mike W. Barr and Brian Bolland. I haven’t read it, I probably should.

Dark Crisis Omnibus HC

Collects Justice League #75; Dark Crisis #0–7; Flash #783–786; Justice League: Road to Dark Crisis #1; I Am Batman #15; Dark Crisis: Young Justice #1–6; Dark Crisis: Worlds Without a Justice League: Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, and Batman; Dark Crisis: The Deadly Green #1, Dark Crisis: War Zone #1, Dark Crisis: The Dark Army #1, and Dark Crisis: Big Bang #1. Newly added to this solicitation is the so-called Aquaman #6, which is most definitely actually Aquamen (plural) #6, though whether that’s the whole thing or just the very relevant part toward the end remains to be seen.

That’s everything that was collected in Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, Dark Crisis: Young Justice, Dark Crisis: Worlds Without a Justice League, and Tales From Dark Crisis, plus Aquamen. Dark Crisis event changed its mind so many times about what it wanted to be and do, but I still adore some of the character interactions within it.

DC Compact Comics Box Set TP

A box set of these Compact Comics is a great idea, and at six of them for $50 when they’re usually $10 each, it also seems like a bargain! The descriptions of these books in the solicitation are priceless:

All-Star Superman (the last days of Superman), Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (old man Bruce Wayne out of retirement and saving Gotham), Batman: The Long Halloween (a mystery, and all the greatest Batman villains are suspects), DC: The New Frontier (the world of DC heroes across the globe must unite for the first time ever), Kingdom Come (in the future of DC, a war between old heroes and new is brewing), and Watchmen (the superhero murder mystery that became a world-wide bestseller).

DC Finest: Robin: The Origin of Robin TP

"Robin’s major solo appearances," it says, from Batman #184, #192, #202, #213, #227, #229–231, #234–236, #239–242, #244–245, #248–250, #252, #254, and #259; Detective Comics #342, #386, #390–391, #394–395, #398–403, #445, #447, and #450–451; World’s Finest Comics #141, #147, #195, and #200; and Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen #111 and #130 in the the Silver and Bronze Ages.

DC Finest: Sgt. Rock: The Rock of Easy Co. TP

Said to collect G.I. Combat #68 and Our Army at War #81–122 by Robert Kanigher, Joe Kubert, and company.

DC Finest: Supergirl: Die and Let Live TP

The second collection of Peter David’s Supergirl with art by Leonard Kirk, collecting issues #19–35 and #1,000,000, Resurrection Man #16–17, Team Superman Secret Files and Origins #1, Team Superman #1, Supergirl/Prysm Double-Shot #1, and a story from Adventure Comics 80-Page Giant #1. Within, there’s a new Comet, the return of Matrix, a "Millennium Giants" crossover, and Supergirl’s new angel persona.

DC Finest: Team-ups: The Impossible Escape TP

Batman’s Bronze Age team-ups from Brave and the Bold #106–130 and Super-Team Family #1–7, with appearances from Mr. Miracle, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, Deadman, and Kamandi.

Gotham Central: DC Compact Comics Edition TP

Collects the first ten issues of Gotham Central, one of my favorites, being the Gotham Central Vol. 1: In the Line of Duty and Gotham Central Vol. 2: Half a Life trades. I reviewed Half a Life in 2005, and offered a Gotham Central retrospective in 2007.

Justice League of America: The Bronze Age Omnibus Vol. 1 (2026 Edition) HC

New printing, collecting stories of the Satellite Era: Justice League of America #77–113, also with an introduction by Roy Thomas.

Justice League: Cheetah & Cheshire Rob the Watchtower TP

There’s very little I want in the world more than Greg Rucka writing a heist thriller using random DC characters, and with Black Magick collaborator Nicola Scott, too. I can only hope this truly does tie in to the ongoing events in the DCU; coming in May in paperback.

Legends Omnibus HC

Quite the comprehensive Legends collection, which is great: Legends #1–6, Batman #401 (finally somewhere!), Detective Comics #568, Green Lantern Corps #207, Cosmic Boy #1–4, Justice League of America #258–261, Secret Origins #10 and #14, The Fury of Firestorm #55–56 and #58–59, Blue Beetle #9–10, The Warlord #114–115, Superman #3, Adventures of Superman #426, and Action Comics #586. Includes an intro by John Ostrander and also “a never-before-seen extensive behind-the-scenes look at DC’s journey to making a sequel to Crisis on Infinite Earths,” which I understand Legends was meant to be but kinda wasn’t.

Lex Luthor: Diabolical Genius TP

Young readers graphic novel by Christof Bogacs and artist Valerio Chiola with Lex, Superman, Lois Lane, Slade Wilson, and Batman, it seems.

Milestone Compendium Five TP

Collects the final issues of the original Milestone runs – Blood Syndicate #33–35, Hardware #39–50, Icon #38–42, Static #32–45, plus Wise Son: The White Wolf #1–4, Heroes #1–6, Static Shock!: Rebirth of the Cool #1–4, the Static Shock Special #1, Milestone Forever #1–2, and bonus material from 9–11: The World’s Finest Comic Book Writers & Artists Tell Stories to Remember #2, Superman & Batman Magazine #7, and the Xombi Hanukkah Special.

Orion TP

Young adult graphic novel by Ngozi Ukazu, sequel to Barda. The Fourth World told as a CW-type coming of age story is a fantastic idea.

Supergirl: The New 52 Omnibus Vol. 2 HC

Said to collect Supergirl #21–40, Supergirl: Futures End #1, and the Supergirl story from the New 52 Secret Origins #1; Action Comics Annual #2, Superman #25, and Superboy #25, all parts of the “Krypton Returns” crossover; Action Comics #23.1, about the New 52 Cyborg Superman; and Green Lantern #28, Red Lanterns #28–34, Red Lanterns Annual #1, all parts of Supergirl’s time with the Red Lanterns. Only real anomaly is the reported inclusion of Batman/Superman #16–20, the New 52, we assume, which was collected in Batman/Superman Vol. 4: Siege, though it’s only #18–20 of that series, by Greg Pak, that has Supergirl in it.

Otherwise this is Supergirl: Out of the Past, Supergirl: Red Daughter of Krypton, and Supergirl: Crucible by creators including Michael Alan Nelson, Scott Lobdell, Tony Bedard, K. Perkins, Mike Johnson, and Emanuela Lupacchino.

Supergirl: The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 1 (2026 Edition) HC

Collects stories from Action Comics #252–307 by Jerry Siegel, Jim Mooney, Otto Binder, Leo Dorfman, and more.

Superman Adventures Compendium Two TP

Collects issues #29–66, including issues found in Superman Adventures Vol. 4 and previously uncollected Superman Adventures issues, both as reviewed by Zach King, plus material from Superman & Batman Magazine #1 and #3–8.

Superman: Action Comics Vol. 1: Boy of Steel TP

In March in paperback only, which surprises me, collecting Action Comics #1087–1092 by Mark Waid, Skylar Patridge, and Cian Tormey.

Superman: Brainiac Reborn Omnibus HC

Took quite a bit of time, but we do finally have confirmation that the early report from Near Mint Condition was correct, and that Brainiac Reborn is indeed the “gap filler” volume between Superman: Exile and Other Stories and the Superman: The Triangle Titles Omnibus Vol. 1. So glad to see it, and I’m hopeful for a new printing of Exile and Other Stories and then cut-down versions, so on and so forth. Long may all of this go on. (I speculated at the time on what a “Brainiac Omnibus” might be in the dedicated Superman: Brainiac Reborn Omnibus post on this site.)

Contents include Action Comics #647–658, Superman #38–48, Adventures of Superman #461–471, the contents of which I detailed in my first look at the Superman: The Triangle Titles Omnibus Vol. 1, plus the contemporaneous Adventures of Superman Annual #2 and L.E.G.I.O.N. '90 Annual #1. a crossover. Also in this book are Lex Luthor: The Unauthorized Biography, published during the Exile era, and the Superman Special #1 and Superman: Under a Yellow Sun, both published much later, though I don’t think any of those will seem out of place. Unauthorized Biography is by James Hudnall and Under a Yellow Sun is by John Francis Moore; both have superlative, moody art by the late Eduardo Barreto and are excellent. The Superman Special is written and drawn by comics legend Walt Simonson, a take on the 1970s Superman “Sandman Saga.”

A welcome addition to the shelves.

Superman: Red Son: DC Compact Comics Edition TP

Collects the Elseworlds by Mark Millar, Dave Johnson, and company, in Compact Comics format.

Superman’s Good Guy Gang: Follow the Leader HC

Sequel graphic novel for young readers set in the new Superman movie universe (if they were kids), written and drawn by Rob Justus.

The Swamp Thing by Ram V and Mike Perkins Omnibus HC

Collects Ram V and Mike Perkins excellent 16-issue Swamp Thing miniseries, plus Future State: Swamp Thing #1–2, and Legend of the Swamp Thing Halloween Spectacular #1. Removed since the last solicitation (unless it’s part of the “and more”) is Poison Ivy/Swamp Thing: Feral Trees #1 (I thought this was supposed to be collected in a Poison Ivy book), but added are “stories from” Curse of Brimstone Annual (art by Perkins) and Swamp Thing Giant. I reviewed The Swamp Thing Vol. 1: Becoming, The Swamp Thing Vol. 2: Conduit, and The Swamp Thing Vol. 3: The Parliament of Gears in 2022–2023, and I’ve been glad to see Swamp Thing Levi Kamei stick around since then.

Wonder Woman Vol. 4: The Island of Mice and Men TP

The next volume by Tom King, Daniel Sampere, and company, coming in May in paperback, and said to collect issues #22–28. Wonder Woman Vol. 3: Fury collected through issue #19, so I would expect this to start with issue #20, unless … would they actually not collect issues #20–21 by Tom King and Guillem March teaming Wonder Woman and Batman?!

  1. I might need to get a paper route or donate an organ for this month. Both Absolute titles, Finest Supergirl, Milestone v5, Brainiac Reborn, WW v4, Action, and Cheetah & Cheshire. Plus, y'know, I have every other Crisis Omnibus, so skipping Dark Crisis will look weird (separately, for shelf completeness, I need Convergence in OHC), and I'm still debating Supergirl New 52 v2.
