DC Trade Solicitations for August 2026 - Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 3, Spectre by Ostrander Omnibus Vol. 2, Batman: Gotham Adventures Omnibus, JLA by Waid Omnibus, DC Finest: Green Lantern Corps, Harley Quinn in Paradise, DC GO! Collections

I can’t explain why the DC Comics August 2026 trade paperback and hardcover solicitations are so thin in terms of regular series collections, except to say that some months are like that. Sometimes what we find is that two different solicitations end up filling a certain month, but looking at the schedule from what I know of the fall 2026 catalog, it really just seems like October is a slim month.

September, for instance, has Absolute Batman Vol. 3, the new DC/Marvel collection, and Supergirl Vol. 2; November has Absolute Superman Vol. 3, Green Lantern Corps Vol. 3, Action Comics Vol. 2, Wonder Woman Vol. 5, Absolute Green Lantern Vol. 3, Aquaman Vol. 3, and Batman Vol. 2. October has … just Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 3.

So yeah, that’s weird, but then again, if by that point I’m all caught up with my current DCU reading, there’s still two volumes of Penguin and two Fire and Ice miniseries and so on waiting for me, so I can probably do with a slim month.

Other things that will appeal to others: There’s the Batman: Gotham Adventures Omnibus and the second Spectre by Ostrander Omnibus and a JLA by Mark Waid Omnibus that spans from JLA: Year One to Waid’s work on the seminal title. Three DC GO! series see collections, if that’s your kind of thing — Harley Quinn in Paradise, Nothing Butt Nightwing, and Renaissance of Raven. The DC Finest: Green Lantern: Setting Up Shop has some post-Crisis Green Lantern Corps issues I’d like to read, if not necessarily in that format (plus the unexpected reprint of Green Lantern: Earth One Vol. 1). Reprints of Demon: Hell’s Hitman and Jonah Hex: Face Full of Violence are both timed for forthcoming DC Next series.

Not a lot for me, but maybe a lot for someone, and I don’t mind a few less books added to the to-read pile. Let’s look at the full list.

Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 3: Season of the Witch HC

In hardcover and paperback in late October, collecting Absolute Wonder Woman #15–20 and Absolute Wonder Woman 2026 Annual #1 – plus an Absolute guest star!

Animal Man by Grant Morrison Book One (2026 Edition) TP

New printing of the collection of Animal Man #1–13 and Secret Origins #39, with an introduction by Grant Morrison. This is the Animal Man Vol. 1 collection and part of Animal Man: Origin of the Species.

Batman by Grant Morrison Book Three TP

Collects Batman #701–702, Batman & Robin #10–16, and Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne #1–6. These issues were found in Batman: Time and the Batman, Batman & Robin: Batman vs. Robin, Batman & Robin: Batman and Robin Must Die, and Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne.

Batman: Gotham Adventures Omnibus Vol. 1 HC

Collects Batman: Gotham Adventures #1–42, though the series would run for 60 issues, plus a story from Batman: Gotham Knights #14, Superman Adventures #25, Adventures in the DC Universe #3, Batgirl Adventures #1, and Harley & Ivy: Love on the Lam #1. I believe a lot of this has not been collected before, at least in the U.S.?

Batman: Harley and Ivy: DC Compact Comics Edition TP

Collects Batman: Harley and Ivy #1–3, Batman Adventures Annual #1, Batman Adventures Holiday Special #1, Batman and Robin Adventures #8, Batgirl Adventures #1, and stories from Batman: Gotham Knights #14 and Batman Black and White #3, by Paul Dini, Bruce Timm, Rick Burchett and company.

Batman: Night of the Owls Compendium TP

Rather smart idea for a compendium, bringing together Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s two “Night of the Owls” volumes, Batman #1–12 in total (previously listed as #1–11), with All-Star Western #9, Catwoman #9, Nightwing #8–9, Red Hood and the Outlaws #9, Batgirl #9, Batman and Robin #9, Batman: The Dark Knight #9, Birds of Prey #9, Detective Comics #9, Batwing #9, and Batman Annual #1; previously those tie-in comics were only collected with Batman #8–11.

I reviewed Batman Vol. 1: The Court of Owls, Batman Vol. 2: City of Owls, and Batman: Night of the Owls in 2012–2013.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold: The Bronze Age Omnibus Vol. 1 (2026 Edition) HC

New printing, collecting Brave and the Bold #74–106, teaming Batman with Wonder Woman, Deadman, Sgt. Rock, the Teen Titans, Metamorpho, Black Canary, the Spectre, Aquaman, Green Arrow, and more.

Birds of Prey: The Origins TP

Young adult graphic novel by Sara Shepard and Stephanie Pepper, with teenage versions of Oracle, Black Canary, Huntress, and Harley Quinn.

DC Finest: Green Lantern: Setting Up Shop TP

Some of these Green Lantern Corps stories from just post-Crisis on Infinite Earths have been collected, but not all of them, so I’m glad to see this (DC Finest is killing it!). Featured here are some of the Green Lanterns I heard about when I first got into the GL mythos but never experienced their adventures firsthand, like Katma Tui and Arisia. Collects Secret Origins #7, Action Comics #589, Green Lantern #201–205, Green Lantern Corps #206–219, Tales of the Green Lantern Corps Annual #2, and Green Lantern Annual #3. Corps would end with issue #224, but another volume could collect the final issues plus stories from Action Comics Weekly and even Green Lantern Corps Quarterly issues.

DC Finest: Horror: Where Dead Men Walk TP

Collects House of Secrets #86–90, House of Mystery #186–190, The Witching Hour #8–12, and The Unexpected #118–123 (previously said to also include Phantom Stranger #7 and that the comics would be “in restored clarity”).

The Demon: Hell’s Hitman (2026 Edition) TP

Also in time for the Demon’s Next Level series, this reprints Garth Ennis and John McCrea’s Demon Annual #2 and Demon #40 and #42–49. The annual is the first appearance of the popular Hitman Tommy Monaghan and his appearances in Demon predate Monaghan’s own series.

End of Life Vol. 1: What’s Wrongdog? TP

The Vertigo series by Kyle Starks and Steve Pugh, in paperback in October, collecting issues #1–6.

Green Lantern: Earth One Vol. 1 TP

New printing of the Earth One graphic novel by Corinna Bechko and Gabriel Hardman. I reviewed Green Lantern: Earth One Vol. 1 in 2018 and the second volume in 2020; I liked these (and Hardman’s story in the more recent Brave and the Bold: Legends of Justice). A nice reprint in time for the HBO Lanterns series, though it rather reminds that DC has little so street level else to reprint among the Green Lantern library. Might’ve been nice to see both Green Lantern: Earth One volumes together instead of just one.

Green Lantern: Secret Origin (2026 Edition) TP

Geoff John and Ivan Reis' Green Lantern #29–35; I reviewed Secret Origin in 2009, ahead of Blackest Night.

Harley Quinn by Amanda Conner & Jimmy Palmiotti Omnibus Vol. 1 (2026 Edition) HC

New edition of the collection of Harley Quinn #0–16, Harley Quinn: Futures End #1, Harley Quinn Invades Comic-Con International San Diego Special, Harley Quinn Annual #1, Harley Quinn Holiday Special, Harley Quinn: Valentine’s Day Special, and Harley Quinn and Power Girl #1–6. I reviewed this as Harley Quinn Vol. 1: Hot in the City, Harley Quinn Vol. 2: Power Outage, Harley Quinn Vol. 3: Kiss Kiss Bang Stab, and Harley Quinn and Power Girl.

Harley Quinn in Paradise Vol. 1 TP

In paperback in October, the DC GO! webcomic episodes #1–13 by CRC Payne, Siobhan Chiffon, and Cathy Le.

House of Mystery: The Bronze Age Omnibus Vol. 2 (2026 Edition) HC

New printing, collecting issues #201–226, with work by Bernie Wrightson, Sergio Aragonés, Jim Starlin, and more.

JLA by Mark Waid Omnibus HC

I saw this and expected it would just be Mark Waid’s JLA issues proper, around Grant Morrison’s and then when Waid took over the series. But it’s quite impressively expanded, actually, to include Waid’s JLA: Year One #1–12 and the sequel Flash & Green Lantern: The Brave & The Bold #1–6, plus Waid’s lead-in to Morrison’s JLA, Justice League: A Midsummer’s Nightmare #1–3, and then also JLA #18–21, #32–33, #43–58, and #60. As well, JLA Secret Files and Origins #3 and the graphic novel JLA: Heaven’s Ladder.

Jonah Hex: Face Full of Violence (2026 Edition) TP

In time for Jonah Hex’s DC Next Level series, this reprints the first six issues of the 2006 series by Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti (who also did All-Star Western), which – I had no idea – went for 70 issues! With Luke Ross and Hex’s co-creator Tony DeZuniga. In paperback in September.

Kanga-U: Tricks and Transformation TP

Young readers graphic novel by Shelly Fisch and Yancey Labat.

Kingdom Come: 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition HC

The four-issue miniseries by Mark Waid and Alex Ross, in hardcover in October, including a new cover by Ross and afterwords by Waid and Ross.

Nothing Butt Nightwing Vol. 1 TP

In paperback in October, the DC GO! webcomic episodes #1–13 by Patrick R. Young and Moy R. Marco. I say again, read it or be left behind! (I’ll show myself out.)

Renaissance of Raven Vol. 1 TP

In paperback in October, the whole of this DC GO! webcomic series, issues #1–26, by Sina Grace, Nico Bascunan, Katherine Lobo, and Carola Borelli. Apparently won the 2025 Ringo Award for Best Webcomic.

The Spectre by John Ostrander and Tom Mandrake Omnibus Vol. 2 HC

Finishing John Ostrander and Tom Mandrake’s run with Spectre #32–62, Spectre Annual #1, and pages from Showcase '95 #8 (story takes place between Spectre #33–34), Who’s Who #8, Who’s Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe #21 and Who’s Who Update 1987 #5. The origin of Mr. Terrific Michael Holt is in there, and got to love Electric Superman and Batman with the yellow oval on the cover.

Swamp Thing: The Anatomy Lesson: DC Compact Comics Edition TP

Collects Saga of the Swamp Thing #20–27, the beginning of Alan Moore’s run on the title.

You’re A Superhero! HC

Young readers graphic novel by Azie Tesfai and Penelope Rivera Gaylord.
