With the DC Comics October 2026 trade paperback and hardcover solicitations, we’re about at the end of the books listed in DC’s fall 2026 catalog. Shouldn’t be more than a few weeks, and then we’ll have a whole new list of books to look forward to going into 2027.

We’re also about a week away from the start of seven(!) DC K.O.-themed collections. I’m very excited; feedback I heard on DC K.O. proper was good, so I’m hoping not to be disappointed. There was a lot of good build-up to Dark Crisis and then that book itself was … disjointed; books like Titans: Beast World were a fine lead-in to Absolute Power, and then that also was among the weaker of the Dawn of DC bunch.

Now, DC K.O., as we know, has been advertised as a midpoint and not the culmination of DC All-In. And there’s a lot of books coming up in the next few months that spin out of the events of DC K.O. So I’ve been trying to look forward to DC K.O. not just for the book itself but as an indication of the midpoint-ish of this year, that the first half of 2026 has been “about” leading in to DC K.O., and then the second half of 2026 will be about reacting to it — the aftermath of DC K.O. and the start of what comes next. Maybe that takes some pressure off my enjoyment of DC K.O. itself, if that’s something that other comics fans out there might relate to.

In terms of regular series in these solicitations, there’s Flash and (Absolute) Flash, and then also (Emperor) Aquaman; due to the vagaries of comics solicitations, also things like the second volume of Matt Fraction’s Batman and the post-DC K.O. Justice League Unlimited Vol. 4, too. Even as Elliott Kalan’s first Harley Quinn book didn’t much move me, possibly the book I’m most looking forward to is Harley Quinn Vol. 3: The Harq Knight Returns, as I do understand this “Harq Knight” persona shows up in a couple places, and, again, DC K.O. synchronicity. So still plenty good things before the end of the year.

Among small and big books, the Compact Comics editions of the animated tie-ins Batman Adventures and Superman Adventures are good ideas; I’d have sworn there were digest-sized versions of these books before, but I do think the Compact Comics line carries some cache. Going the other way, Mark Waid’s Legion of Super-Heroes was formative for me, the first Legion where I got in on the ground floor, so that omnibus is nice to see, and the Wonder Woman: Dead Earth: Absolute ought indeed be “dead” gorgeous.

(A few anomalies I’ll mention: As far as I caught, DC never solicited DC K.O.: Flash or DC K.O.: Titans, but both are still on the schedules as coming out the last week of August. And there’s a couple stragglers from the fall 2026 books, including the first collection of the post-DC K.O. New Titans and also the second Robin: Tim Drake Compendium that haven’t been solicited. Hopefully that doesn’t indicate an extra month until the new-new stuff; I don’t expect that it does.)

• Absolute Flash Vol. 3: Mirror Mirror HC/TP

In hardcover and paperback in early December, collecting issues #13–18.

• Batman: Beyond the White Knight: The Deluxe Edition HC

Collecting Batman: Beyond the White Knight #1–8 and Batman: White Knight Presents: Red Hood #1–2 in deluxe format. I reviewed Beyond the White Knight in 2024 — see why I said “be careful what we wish for.”

• Batman: The Dark Knight: DC Compact Comics Adventures TP

Took me a minute, but apparently the kids DC Compact Comics are “DC Compact Comics Adventures” — so even as this collects Batman Adventures, it’s not “Batman: The Dark Knight Adventures,” but indeed “Batman: The Dark Knight: DC Compact Comics Adventures.” This collects the first six issues; these were among the issues Zach reviewed in The Batman Adventures Vol. 1.

• DC Finest: Batman: The Curse of Crime Alley TP

Collects Denny O’Neil and Len Wein’s Batman #307–324, Detective Comics #481–490 (previously starting with #482), DC Special Series #21, and Brave and the Bold #159 from 1979–1980. Work here too by Don Newton, Irv Novick, Jim Starlin, Walter Simonson, and Frank Miller.

• DC Finest: Western: Requiem for a Gunfighter TP

Stories from 1973–1977, including Weird Western Tales #18–43, Jonah Hex #1–7, and a never-collected Jonah Hex parody from Amazing World of DC Comics #13 by John Albano and Tony DeZuniga.

• DC vs. Vampires: World War V Vol. 2 TP

Issues #7–12 by Matthew Rosenberg, Otto Schmidt, and company, in December. Still waiting for DC vs. Vampires to do all-in-ones.

• Emperor Aquaman Vol. 3: Empire of Stars TP

In paperback in December by Jeremy Adams and John Timms. This is post-DC K.O. and collects the series otherwise called Emperor Aquaman. No issues listed here but previously it was said to be #15–20.

• The Flash Vol. 6: The Speed Was Power, and the Speed Was Joy TP

In paperback in December, issues #31–36 by new series writer Ryan North. The Flash title could use a win, is what I’ll say.

• Harley Quinn Vol. 3: The Harq Knight Returns! TP

In early December in paperback, issues #58–65 by Elliott Kalan and Carlos Olivares. Silly as “Harq Knight” sounds, seems like this persona of Harley’s is showing up in enough places that I’m intrigued.

• JSA Compendium Two TP

Coming in November, collecting JSA #26–51, JSA Secret Files #2, Green Arrow #12–13 (Hawkman), Suicide Squad #12 (JSA appearance), JSA: Our Worlds at War #1, Hawkman #19 (Black Adam), JSA All-Stars #1–8, JLA/JSA Secret Files #1, All-Star Comics 80-Page Giant #1, Secret Origins of Super Villains Giant #1, and the graphic novel JLA/JSA: Virtue and Vice.

These were collected in trade as JSA: Fair Play, JSA: Stealing Thunder, JSA: Savage Times, and JSA: Princes of Darkness.

• Justice League: Origin: DC Compact Comics Edition TP

The first six issues by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee. I reviewed Justice League Vol. 1: Origin in 2012.

• Legion of Super-Heroes by Mark Waid and Barry Kitson Omnibus HC

Mark Waid and Barry Kitson’s all-new (at the time) take on the Legion; this is one of the first Legion series I really got into. Collects Legion of Super Heroes #1–15, Teen Titans/Legion Special #1, Brave & Bold #1–6 (by Waid and culminating in a Legion appearance), and Supergirl and The Legion of Super-Heroes #16–36 (finished up by Tony Bedard).

I reviewed these as Legion of Super-Heroes: Teenage Revolution, Legion of Super-Heroes: Death of a Dream, Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes: Strange Visitor from Another Century, Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes: Adult Education, Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes: Dominator War, and Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes: The Quest for Cosmic Boy.

• Mister Miracle: DC Compact Comics Edition TP

Tom King and Mitch Gerads' 12-issue series, which I called “a work of genius” (also, “The wonder and the horror of it all”). I reviewed Mister Miracle in 2021.

• Superman by Alan Moore Absolute Edition HC

I was sure a “Superman by Alan Moore” volume must have already existed and shocked to see it did not. Though, what we have here resembles, at least, Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? The Deluxe Edition, with some extras.

Collects Superman #423 and Action Comics #583, “Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow” by Moore and Curt Swan; DC Comics Presents #85, Superman and Swamp Thing in “The Jungle Line” by Moore and Rick Veitch; Superman Annual #11, “For the Man Who Has Everything” by Moore and Dave Gibbons; and then never before collected, “Protected Species” from The Super Heroes Annual 1984 and “I Was Superman’s Double” from Superman Official Annual 1985, which — somebody help me out here — I think were published only in England?

All of this said to be “remastered using original colors” and with tribute art and a bevy of essays.

• Superman: Man of Tomorrow: DC Compact Comics Adventures TP

Collects Superman Adventures #1–6 with Paul Dini, Scott McCloud, and Rick Burchett. Yup, Zach’s got you covered on Superman Adventures, too.

• Teen Titans: Together Connecting Cover Edition TP

The connecting cover edition of the final graphic novel in the series by Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo.

• Wonder Woman: Dead Earth: Absolute Edition HC

I really enjoyed this book when I reviewed in 2020, writing that Wonder Woman: Dead Earth was “beautiful, complicated … a fine first entry for Diana into the world of DC Black Label, with just one giant-sized problem at its center.” It was certainly a gorgeous book and will make an equally gorgeous Absolute. Seems like DC is doing this one right — comes with stickers, even.
