I’m not going to say too much right here about the DC Comics Spring 2027 trade paperback and hardcover catalog solicitations, given we’re about a week already from when it was released and there’s almost 200 books here! I have some thoughts, some of which you may be able to glean from the below, but I’ll share them in more detail in the coming days.

In brief, this is a nice catalog, maybe one of the best I’ve seen in a while, and surely speaks well of the “New DC” as a whole. The Millennium omnibus, the New Titans omnibus (“Titans Hunt”!), the Batgirl: Cassandra Cain omnibus, the Nightwing: Bludhaven Compendium Four, the DC Finest: Catwoman book, an Amethyst omnibus. Never before collected Legends of the Dark Knight issues. I hear they’re fixing the Orion book. It’s a lot, it’s good. You can tell I have misgivings, but that’s for another time.

Shades of New 52 or what was it, sometime, when there were like two paperbacks and then a deluxe hardcover? Anyway, if you’re not on the Absolute Batman train already, this is certainly a nice way to read it. Coming in April and collecting Absolute Batman #1–14, which is the Absolute Batman Vol. 1: The Zoo and Absolute Batman Vol. 2: Abomination collections.

• Absolute Batman: The Black Mirror (2027 Edition) HC

New printing of the Absolute of Scott Snyder’s dynamite debut, Detective Comics #871–881, with Jock and Francesco Francavilla. I reviewed Batman: The Black Mirror back in 2012.

Collects all 14 issues of Scott Snyder’s rollicking Batman series that followed his run on the main title (and led into Dark Nights: Metal), with art by John Romita, Jock, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Rafael Albuquerque, and Tula Lotay. I reviewed these in 2017–2018 as All Star Batman Vol. 1: My Own Worst Enemy, All Star Batman Vol. 2: Ends of the Earth, and All Star Batman Vol. 3: The First Ally.

• American Vampire Book Four TP

Collects American Vampire Anthology #1 and American Vampire: Second Cycle #1–11.

• Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld Omnibus HC

This is fun to see, what seems the complete 1980s adventures of Amethyst by Dan Mishkin and Gary Cohn. Collects the preview story from Legion of Super-Heroes #298 Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld (1983) #1–12, Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld (1985) #1–16, Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld Annual #1, Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld Special #1, Amethyst (1987) #1–4, and the team-up with Superman from DC Comics Presents #63.

• Animal Man by Jamie Delano and Steve Pugh Omnibus HC

Good news for me, as the announcement of this omnibus reminded me that a few of the post-Grant Morrison Animal Man runs have already been collected in small trades, and I should really put them on my “buy at the shop when you’ve got money to burn” list. Those are the issues by Peter Milligan, Tom Veitch and Steve Dillon, and Jamie Delano and Steve Pugh and company. To wit, this omnibus is Delano’s Animal Man #51–79, Animal Man Annual #1, Swamp Thing Annual #7, a story from Vertigo Jam #1, and pages from The Children’s Crusade #1–2.

That’s pretty much the Animal Man: Flesh and Blood and Animal Man: Red Plague collections, plus a bit more “Children’s Crusade” stuff. I’d be interested to read the foreword by Jeff Lemire, whose own New 52 Animal Man run was great.

• Aquaman by Geoff Johns Book Two TP

Collects the end of Geoff Johns' New 52 Aquaman run, issues #14–19, #21–25, #23.1, and #23.2, and Justice League #15–17 (the “Throne of Atlantis” crossover). Indeed, I reviewed Aquaman Vol. 3: Throne of Atlantis and Aquaman Vol. 4: Death of a King in 2014.

• Batgirl of Burnside: The Complete Collection TP

Collects Batgirl #35–52, Batgirl Annual #3, Batgirl: Endgame #1, DC Sneak Peek: Batgirl#1, and a story from Secret Origins #10, by Cameron Stewart, Brenden Fletcher, Babs Tarr, and company. I reviewed these as Batgirl Vol. 1: The Batgirl of Burnside, Batgirl Vol. 2: Family Business, and Batgirl Vol. 3: Mindfields.

• Batgirl Vol. 4: Gotham by Knockout TP

The next collection by Tate Brombal, in January in paperback. Collects issues #17–22. How long until a crossover with Brombal’s New Titans?

• Batgirl: Cassandra Cain Omnibus Vol. 1 HC

Continuing DC’s new strategy that you can read whatever you want as long as it’s either in an omnibus or DC Finest, here’s another collection of the Kelley Puckett series. This spans DC Finest: Batgirl: Silent Knight and into DC Finest: Batgirl: Nobody Dies Tonight (that book ends at #27, this one ends at #19.) Also included: Batgirl Annual #1, Batman #567 and #569, Ghost/Batgirl #1–4, Batman: Gotham Knights #2, Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #120, Detective Comics #734, Superboy #85, Batman Chronicles#18, and Azrael: Agent of the Bat #56–57 and #60–61. This also has a story from Batman: Gotham City Secret Files #1, a page from Young Justice#20, and Young Justice #21, which aren’t (yet) in any of the DC Finest. On the other hand, the DC Finest have more Batgirl issues, Supergirl #63, Batman: No Man’s Land #0, and Detective Comics #732.

Just occurred to me, a DC Finest: Young Justice would be awesome.

In hardcover in April, collecting Batman #360–381 and Detective Comics #527–547; among these are Jason Todd officially inheriting the Robin mantle in Batman #368.

Moench’s first Bat-titles run would go to Batman #400 and Detective Comics #566; for reference, Batman: Second Chances picks up with Batman #402 (ahead of the Caped Crusader books) and Batman: Dark Knight Detective starts with Detective #568. The next Moench volume should include Batman #386, the first appearance of Black Mask.

The solicitation also says Azrael #91–92, which has not been included in previous collections.

• Batman: City of Crime (2027 Edition) TP

I never did read this, as it was out of the mainstream around the time of a lot of continuity-heavy Batman doings (War Games and related). Friend of the site Bob Hodges called it “one of the bleakest and weirdest Batman stories I’ve ever read.” Collects David Lapham’s story from Detective Comics #800–808 and #811–814.

• Batman: Death of the Family Compendium TP

The Scott Snyder saga, collecting Batman #13–20, Batman Annual #2, Detective Comics #1–4 and #15–17, Batman and Robin #13–17,Batgirl #13–17, Catwoman #13–14, Nightwing #14–16, Red Hood and the Outlaws #0 and #15–18, Suicide Squad #14–15, and Teen Titans #15–16. Those early Detective issues are the signal of a complete collection, stories by Tony Daniel with a tertiary but important connection to the Snyder story. I reviewed Batman: Detective Comics Vol. 1: Faces of Death in 2012, for that matter, and Batman Vol. 3: Death of the Family in 2013.

• Clayface: Celebrity Dirt TP

In April in paperback, collecting the six-issue miniseries by Jude Ellison S. Doyle. Seems unusual to me that the mini was published before the movie came out and the collection comes out afterward, missing October 2026 entirely, but I guess both streaming and digital comics are forever. The movie looks too gruesome for my tastes but maybe I’ll give this a try.

• Dark Nights: Death Metal Compendium TP

I reviewed these as Dark Nights: Death Metal, The Darkest Knight, The Multiverse Who Laughs, and War of the Multiverses. I wrote, “Death Metal is assuredly a good story, [Scott] Snyder offers a conception of the whole of the DC Universe to rival Grant Morrison’s metaphysics, and if it were not for Dark Nights: Metal, then Death Metal might be received with the original Metal’s fanfare. But it was, so it isn’t (or something).”

• DC Finest: Aquaman: The Haunted Sea TP

Silver Age 1960s Aquaman stories, including Aquaman #4–24; Brave and the Bold #51; World’s Finest Comics #126–133, #135, #137, and #139; Superman’s Girl Friend, Lois Lane #29; and Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen #55 and #78.

• DC Finest: Batgirl: Silent Knight TP

It is as fascinating that DC did the DC Finest: Batgirl: Nobody Dies Tonight volume, Batgirl #7–27 and sundry appearances, as is that this one collects the relevant Batgirl parts of “No Man’s Land” plus the first six issues of the Scott Peterson/Kelley Puckett series. Well, a win either way.

Coming in January, collecting Batgirl #1–6, Batgirl Annual #1, Batman: No Man’s Land #0, Batman #567 and #569, Detective Comics #732 and #734, Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #120, Azrael: Agent of the Bat #56–57 and #60–61, Batman Chronicles #18, Batman: Gotham Knights #2, and Ghost/Batgirl #1–4 by Mike Kennedy and Ryan Benjamin.

• DC Finest: Batman: A Lonely Place of Dying TP

In the main this has “Batman: Year Three” (Batman #436–439) and “Lonely Place of Dying” (Batman #440–442 and New Titans #60–61). But then we’ve also got Grant Morrison and Dave McKean’s Arkham Asylum graphic novel, Secret Origins #44 and Detective Comics #604–607 (the “Mud Pack” storyline), New Titans #65 (Dick Grayson and Tim Drake), Secret Origins Special #1 (Batman’s rogues), and stories from Batman Villains Secret Files 2005 #1 (maybe the Clayface story?) and Christmas with the Super-Heroes #2.

• DC Finest: Batman: Night of the Stalker TP

Stories from the 1970s, including Batman #246–281, Detective Comics #430–445, and a never-collected five-page Batman story included with the 1974 Batman model kit by Aurora.

• DC Finest: Catwoman: To Catch a Thief TP

Continuing an essentially unbroken collection series of the 1990s Catwoman series, this picks up from DC Finest: Catwoman: Creatures of the Night with Catwoman #54–71, Catwoman/Wildcat #1–4, Catwoman Plus #1, the Catwoman One Million issue, and a story from Batman 80-Page Giant #1. This is a really exceptional use of DC Finest.

• DC Finest: Events: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Four TP

Collects the final issues, Crisis on Infinite Earths #10–12, plus tie-ins: All-Star Squadron #57–60, Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld #13, Blue Devil #19, DC Comics Presents #94, Green Lantern #197–198, Infinity, Inc. #25, The Fury of Firestorm #42, and The Omega Men #33. Then as well, there’s History of the DC Universe #1–2, Who’s Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe #10 and #16–18, Christmas with the Super-Heroes #2 (Deadman and Supergirl), JLA: Incarnations #5 (Detroit League), Secret Origins Annual #2 (Barry Allen), and Starman Annual #1 (Prince Gavyn).

• DC Finest: Fourth World: The Storm of Battle TP

Collects Superman #244; The New Gods #4–7; The Forever People #5–8; Mister Miracle #5–8; Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #144–148, #150, and #152; and Superman’s Girl Friend Lois Lane #116–119. The common Fourth World issues there plus what seems contemporaneous Super-title stories.

• DC Finest: Hitman: A Rage in Arkham TP

Collects Demon Annual #2, Demon #42–45 and #52–54, Batman Chronicles #4, Hitman #1–14, and pages from JLA #5. This is as much as the collections Hitman: A Rage in Arkham, Ten Thousand Bullets, and Local Heroes, plus the extra Demon issues that were included in the recent omnibus.

• DC Finest: Legion of Super-Heroes: The Great Darkness Saga TP

Recent collections have included as much as Legion of Super-Heroes issues #284–296 and the Annual #1; this is said to be Legion #284–302 and #305–306, the annual, and also Legion appearances from DC Comics Presents #43, World’s Finest Comics #284, Best of DC: Blue Ribbon Digest #24 (not so sure they’ve got this one right), and Brave and the Bold #198.

• DC Finest: Metamorpho: How to Make a Super-Hero TP

If you want a lot of Metamorpho, here it is, though this feels a bit piecemeal as opposed dedicated Outsiders collections. Pleased to see, in the wake of the Warlord omnibuses, this has all been so successful enough for even more attention on the Mike Grell series. Coming in February, this is Warlord #1–36 and 1st Issue Special #8; the first omnibus went to issue #50 and also included Amazing World of DC Comics #12.

• DC Finest: Wonder Woman: Judgment in Infinity! TP

Collects stories featuring a new direction and insignia for Wonder Woman from the early 1980s: Wonder Woman #280–305, New Teen Titans #11–12, the special 16-page preview story from DC Comics Presents #41, and the never-collected Superman: The Computer Masters of Metropolis #1 (I am certain I had a copy of this at one point). This Wonder Woman series crossed over with Crisis, and then ended, with issues #327–329.

• The Deadman TP

The six-issue miniseries by W. Maxwell Prince and artist Martín Morazzo, in paperback in March. I’d as soon see this rooted in specific continuity, which I don’t think it necessarily is, but I could be wrong there too.

• Deathstroke: The Terminator by Marv Wolfman Omnibus Vol. 2 HC

In April, collecting the end of Marv Wolfman’s Deathstroke title, Deathstroke the Terminator #0 and #26–60, the annuals #3–4, New Titans #122, and Darkstars #32.

The zero issue (following Zero Hour) falls between issues #40 and #41, when the title was temporarily called Deathstroke the Hunted. Issues #48–49 are part of the “Crimelord-Syndicate War” crossover, which I distinctly remember reading and not having a clue what was going on. The annuals' themes are “Elseworlds” and “Year One” respectively.

This is Grayson Vol. 1: Agents of Spyral HC, Grayson Vol. 2: We All Die at Dawn TPB, and Grayson Vol. 3: Nemesis TPB. I wouldn’t mind a Grayson compendium-type volume that collected Agent 37 in his other appearances — probably mostly in Batgirl but I’m sure there were others.

Completing Judd Winick’s run on the title, Green Arrow #40–75, plus the Chuck Dixon miniseries, Connor Hawke: Dragon’s Blood #1–6, published around this time. • Millennium Omnibus HC

Yes, I’m thrilled to see this. I will say I’ve read Legends a bunch of times but Millennium and its tie-ins are real blind spots for me; the scuttlebutt is that it isn’t great, but I’m pleased to see this as a historical document. If I can’t work up much more enthusiasm than that, it’s because I can absolutely see that the next stop for this material is a couple of DC Finest: Events volumes and then … nothing. It is great, it is fantastic, DC has obviously found a schema that works for them and allows them to reprint old and long-sought-after material, but in formats too big to be made available digitally, and so when it’s out of print, it’s out of print. More to say on this soon.

I imagine these read very much as a product of their time, the almost too cruel “Titans Hunt” storyline followed by the irreverent “Titans Sell-Out” issues and into the “Total Chaos” crossover. Probably “Titans Hunt” was the last, best moment of Marv Wolfman’s Titans and everything that followed was a “jumped the shark” death knell — but I tell you what, this was my first, formative exposure to the Titans and I loved it. Yes, I even bought Team Titans #1 five times so I could get the different 18-page backup stories alongside the same 22-page main story (it was the 1990s). Books with ties to Armageddon 2001, War of the Gods, and Zero Hour?! Catnip for a budding continuity wonk.

I hold out hope we’ll see this content some way other than just an omnibus. Meantime, this is out in May; I reviewed DC’s collection of Titans: Total Chaos in 2018.

This is, as has already been established with Knight in Bludhaven Compendium Three, well into the gap of Nightwing issues that weren’t collected originally. We have here the rest of Devin Grayson’s run, now collected in full, and also Scott Beatty and Chuck Dixon’s “Nightwing: Year One.” This ends with Infinite Crisis; if these books continued, next would be the Bruce Jones “One Year Later” story, where Jason Todd is mutated into a tentacled monster. Collects Superman #423 and Action Comics #583, “Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow” by Moore and Curt Swan; DC Comics Presents #85, Superman and Swamp Thing in “The Jungle Line” by Moore and Rick Veitch; Superman Annual #11, “For the Man Who Has Everything” by Moore and Dave Gibbons; and then never before collected, “Protected Species” from The Super Heroes Annual 1984 and “I Was Superman’s Double” from Superman Official Annual 1985, which — somebody help me out here — I think were published only in England?

All of this said to be “remastered using original colors” and with tribute art and a bevy of essays.

• Superman by Grant Morrison Book One TP

Kicking off in paperback in January with Action Comics #1–11, the beginning of Grant Morrison’s New 52 run. That’s the Action Comics Vol. 1: Superman and the Men of Steel and Action Comics Vol. 2: Bulletproof collections

Morrison’s Action Comics run would go to issue #18, but of course they’ve written more Superman than that. The omnibus of the same name did go up to #18, plus the #0 issue and an annual, but something more comprehensive could have All-Star Superman, Superman and the Authority, maybe some Final Crisis … what else?

• Superman by Peter J. Tomasi Book One TP

Collects Superman #1–13, Superman: Rebirth #1, and Superman Annual #1, being the first two volumes of Tomasi’s (largely Patrick Gleason and Doug Mahnke) Rebirth Superman run. This was previously Superman Vol. 1: Son of Superman and Superman Vol. 2: Trials of the Super Son.

• Superman by Phillip Kennedy Johnson Omnibus Vol. 2 HC

This kicks off with “Kal-El Returns” from the end of Phillip Kennedy Johnson’s “Warworld Saga” and Dark Crisis and continues through the end of Johnson’s main run, plus — surprisingly, so soon — all the issues of his Adventures of Superman: Book of El miniseries.

• Superman: Brainiac: DC Compact Comics Edition TP

Compact comics edition of Geoff Johns' Action Comics #866–870 and Superman: New Krypton Special #1. I reviewed Superman: Brainiac in 2009, writing, “Superman: Brainiac follows a string of Action Comics successes for Geoff Johns, but this may be the best of the library. … On the eve of the “New Krypton” storyline, Brainiac feels like another reboot – one that firmly grounds Superman in his Metropolis supporting cast and portrays the best Clark Kent I’ve seen in years.”

• Superman: Father of Tomorrow HC

The six-issue miniseries from Kenny Porter, who I mainly know from Superboy: Man of Tomorrow (title coincidence?), and Danny Earls. The synopsis sounds positively utopic, so I wonder what the actual conflict is (probably Luthor. Looks like it’s Luthor).

• Superman: Kingdom of Zod TP

An impressively full collection at a reported 368 pages, in paperback in February. Said to collect the whole story: Action Comics #1100–1102, Superman #41–42, Supergirl #16–17, Superman Unlimited #16–17, Superman Annual: Year One Thousand #1, Superman: Kingdom of Zod Special #1, and Summer of Supergirl Special #1. Remains to see which if any will also be collected in their own series volumes.

The inclusion of the annual is interesting; I didn’t think it tied into “Kingdom of Zod,” but what do I know. And don’t get me started on Summer of Supergirl special being in here when we still haven’t seen the Summer of Superman special collected.

• Superman: Man of Steel: DC Compact Comics Edition TP

Compact collection of the seminal six-issue John Byrne miniseries.

• Superman: Panic in the Sky (2027 Edition) TP

What I consider the epitome of the Triangle Titles era (take that, Death of Superman!), back in print in January in paperback. This is Action Comics #474–476, Superman: Man of Steel #9–11, Adventures of Superman #488–490, and Superman #65–67.

This is the expanded version of the collection; the original 1993 book collected only the event proper, while the 2016 version added an extra month of the Super-titles; a certain villain is surely the reason for this newest reprint. This is an epic story involving the whole of the active DCU at the time, the kind of thing that would definitely be a bloated line-wide event now, but in those simpler (better?) days, it just took place among two months of the Superman books.

• Superman: President Luthor Compendium TP

Cool to see President Lex get a nod (of all of DC’s “everything happened” aesthetic, it’s still up in the air whether Lex was still actually president or not). But amazingly, this is a giant swatch of the Jeph Loeb-era Superman stories, starting with “Emperor Joker” and continuing through “Return to Krypton,” ending just before “Our Worlds at War.” Collecting Superman #160–168, Action Comics #769–777, Adventures of Superman #582–590, Superman: The Man of Steel #104–112, Superman: Emperor Joker #1, Superman: President Lex #1, Superman: Lex 2000 #1, Superman: Return to Krypton #1 (pretty sure this doesn’t exist), President Luthor Secret Files and Origins #1, and Detective Comics #756, great stuff all around.

• Superman: The Last Days of Lex Luthor TP

Mark Waid and Bryan Hitch’s three issue Black Label miniseries (which I have yet to read but should), in paperback in June following the hardcover. DC stacking up those Superman books ahead of the movie.

• Superman: The Stranger HC

Wes Craig’s six-issue Golden Age-set Black Label miniseries, in hardcover in late June.

• Superman: Up, Up, and Away (2027 Edition) TP

Collects the post-Infinite Crisis story that launched Superman into the “One Year Later” era, by Geoff Johns and Kurt Busiek, Superman #650–653 and Action Comics #837–840.

This comes out in April, and I imagine we’re seeing it because it’s a back-to-basics Superman story timed to be in stores ahead of Man of Tomorrow, James Gunn’s Superman sequel. Which really shows you how long we’ve been doing this, given that this story had its origins in a reader-friendly era just after the 2006 Superman Returns movie. “The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass” and so on. I reviewed Superman: Up, Up, and Away in 2007.

• Superman/Shazam!: First Thunder Deluxe Edition (2027 Edition) HC

The four-issue miniseries by Judd Winick and Joshua Middleton, what DC might release these days under their young readers line. I reviewed Superman/Shazam!: First Thunder in 2007.

• Teen Titans by Geoff Johns Compendium Two TP

Collects Teen Titans Annual #1, Robin #146–147, Superman/Batman #26, Teen Titans #32–54, Superman #712, Crisis Aftermath: The Battle for Blüdhaven #1–6, Wonder Girl #1–6, DC Special: Cyborg #1–6, Blue Beetle #18, a story from DC Infinite Halloween Special #1, pages from Countdown #51, Infinite Crisis #1–7, and character origins featured in 52 #25, #31–32, #41, and #47.

That spans Teen Titans: Life and Death, Titans Around the World, Titans East, and Titans of Tomorrow, though notably Johns' last issue was #46 and a contribution to #50. What’s really impressive is some of the extras, the Wonder Girl miniseries and Crisis Aftermath stuff, that Superman issue — remarkably complete.

• Wonder Woman Vol. 6: The Wonder War Act II TP

In April in paperback from Tom King. Surprised I overlooked that between Wonder Woman Vol. 3: Fury and Wonder Woman Vol. 4: Island of Mice and Men, they skipped issues #20–21, but here they are now, along with #37–40 and Wonder Woman 2026 Annual: Wonder War – The Matriarch #1.

• Wonder Woman: Dead Earth: Absolute Edition HC

I really enjoyed this book when I reviewed in 2020, writing that Wonder Woman: Dead Earth was “beautiful, complicated … a fine first entry for Diana into the world of DC Black Label, with just one giant-sized problem at its center.” It was certainly a gorgeous book and will make an equally gorgeous Absolute. Seems like DC is doing this one right — comes with stickers, even.

• Wonder Woman: Rebirth: Children of the Gods Omnibus HC

This is a collection of Rebirth-era Wonder Woman comics, starting where Greg Rucka’s Rebirth run ended and collecting stories by Shea Fontana, James Robinson, Steve Orlando, and Poison Ivy’s G. Willow Wilson, plus the crossover with James Tynion’s Justice League Dark.

It stops at the end of Wilson’s run, before Orlando comes on again, then Mariko Tamaki, then Michael W. Conrad and Becky Cloonan’s extended run, all of which is the same “volume” of Wonder Woman before the series numbering would restart with Tom King’s run. Which is to say, this doesn’t have “Vol. 1” on it, but I wouldn’t be too surprised to see more. There’s a lot of issues here, but stopping after Wilson instead of Tamaki (so, not going up to at least the “Infinite Frontier” break) does seem suspiciously arbitrary without a second volume planned.

(DC lists this book at 1,000 pages for 60–70 comics and the Birds of Prey by Thompson omnibus at 720 pages for 28 comics, so one or the other can’t possibly be right. Also, just me, but I’d call this an omnibus and that a compendium.)

Not to be contrary again, but these were not great Wonder Woman comics. In their favor, these writers got to play in the playground set up by Rucka, where Diana and Steve Trevor could have a mature romantic relationship and Diana had to negotiate having been separated from Themyscira (a precursor to similar in Absolute Wonder Woman). At the same time, portrayals of Diana are all over the place, from the Wonder Woman we know to a naif who knows nothing of “Man’s World”; the good parts with Steve are spoiled by some really adolescent drama; and there’s an extended bit with cutesy monsters that’s annoying (not like the cute cutesy monsters in Absolute). Robinson’s story introduces Diana’s long-lost twin brother, a terrible idea; Robinson carries it well, but every time “Wonder Man” crowds Diana out of her own title, you have to be curious what the editors were thinking. That brother Jason has never been mentioned since is not a surprise.

So, y’know, it’s a book with a lot of stuff in it, but buyer beware. This collects Wonder Woman: Steve Trevor #1, Wonder Woman Annual #1, Titans Annual #1, Wonder Woman #26–81, Wonder Woman Annual #2, Wonder Woman and the Justice League Dark: The Witching Hour #1, Justice League Dark #4, Justice League Dark and Wonder Woman: The Witching Hour #1, a story from DC Rebirth Holiday Special #1, and stories from Wonder Woman 75th Anniversary Special #1. I reviewed these as Wonder Woman Vol. 6: Children of the Gods, Wonder Woman Vol. 7: Amazons Attacked, Wonder Woman Vol. 8: Dark Gods, Wonder Woman Vol. 9: The Enemy of Both Sides, Wonder Woman and Justice League Dark: The Witching Hour, Wonder Woman Vol. 1: The Just War, Wonder Woman Vol. 2: Love Is a Battlefield, and Wonder Woman Vol. 3: Loveless.

My sense is still that this makes more sense in total when combined with Rucka’s odd-numbered The Truth, but I can’t blame DC not being able to resist a “Year One.” I reviewed this as Wonder Woman Vol. 2: Year One in 2017.

• Zatanna Vol. 1: The Greatest Tour TP

In February in paperback, collecting the first six issues of Jamal Campbell’s new series. I’ve never really clicked with Zatanna, the character, but Campbell was nominated for an Eisner for his Zatanna miniseries, so I guess I’m going to have to dip in sooner or later.
