DC Trade Solicitations for September 2026 - Absolute Superman and Green Lantern Vols. 3, Justice League Unlimited Vol. 4, Fraction Batman Vol. 2, DC Finest Crisis and Legends, Warlord Omnibus Vol. 2, Action Comics: Reign of the Superboys
Particularly after the August 2026 solicitations were thin overall, the DC Comics September 2026 trade paperback and hardcover solicitations offers a lot to look forward to.
If you’ll indulge my head canon, there equally won’t be too many DC Universe-altering books in the October 2026 solicitations (collections coming out in December), either. So, really these November/early December volumes — Justice League Unlimited Vol. 4 in the aftermath of DC K.O.; Mark Waid’s Action Comics: Vol. 2, kicking off that title’s “Reign of the Superboys”; Matt Fraction’s Batman Vol. 2; Absolute Superman Vol. 3 and Absolute Green Lantern Vol. 3 and the next of Tom King’s Wonder Woman books and the post-DC K.O. Green Lantern Corps Vol. 3 — to a certain extent mark the 2026 DCU “finale” ahead of whatever may come in 2027.
I thought it was interesting the three DC Finest books coming this month are DC Finest: Crisis Part Three, DC Finest: Legends Part One, and DC Finest: Superman: The Man of Steel. Obviously those are “parts” and not “wholes,” but increasingly if you were brand-new to the DC Universe, there is a way you could start at Crisis and get a pretty good — and connected — overview of the DCU. One day I want to do a big pre-Crisis re-read; this would be as good a way to do it as any.
Not too many notable omnibuses from my perspective this month. I think it’s interesting Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps by Robert Venditti Omnibus has the Cullen Bunn and Tom Taylor miniseries in it, and I wonder if those will keep or not. There’s also the second and final Warlord by Mike Grell Omnibus, too. I’ll be checking out Phillip Kennedy Johnson’s Adventures of Superman: Book of El; I’m also probably remiss in not mentioning earlier the deluxe edition of Dave Gibbons and Steve Rude’s World’s Finest, one of my very favorite-est Superman/Batman team-up books, back in the 1990s in an era where that was a little more rare.
Let’s look at the full list!

In paperback in October, the first collection of the new Vertigo series by Absolute Martian Manhunter’s Deniz Camp and Stipan Morian. Collects issues #1–6.
- • Crisis on Infinite Earths: DC Compact Comics Edition TP
Worlds will live, worlds will die, the print’s gonna be awful small but all 12 issues of Crisis for $9.99 is a steal.
- • DC Finest: Doom Patrol: The End Sanctifies the Means TP
Collects Rachel Pollack’s Doom Patrol #64–87, Doom Patrol Annual #2, and a story from Vertigo Jam #1, with Richard Case, Linda Medley, Ted McKeever, the Pander Brothers, Scot Eaton, and more. This is almost the same as the Doom Patrol by Rachel Pollack Omnibus, short Totems #1.
- • DC Finest: Events: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 3 TP
Collects Crisis on Infinite Earths #6–9, All Star Squadron #53–56, Justice League of America #245, Justice League of America Annual #3, Superman #414–415, Green Lantern #195–196, DC Comics Presents #87–88, Legion of Super-Heroes #16 and #18, Infinity, Inc. #23–24, Vigilante #22, Omega Men #31, and Blue Devil #17–18. Next one would be the last then, I think?
- • DC Finest: Events: Legends Part One TP
DC’s really got something good going with this omnibus to DC Finest pipeline. (I had earlier decried that DC Finest don’t get digital releases, but that actually seems to be thawing …) Legends tie-ins – what a collection. Includes Legends #1–3, Infinity Inc. #34–36, Hawkman #5–6, Secret Origins #10, Batman #401, Detective Comics #568, Justice League of America #258, Green Lantern Corps #207–208, Fury of Firestorm #55–56, Blue Beetle #9, and Cosmic Boy #1–2. Different than the earlier solicitation, this omits Crisis on Infinite Earths #12, which is probably right. It also lists Hawkman twice and omits Booster Gold #13, which wasn’t branded a Legends tie-in but took place during Legends, so here’s hoping.
- • DC Finest: Superman: The Man of Steel TP
More than just Man of Steel, this is John Byrne, Marv Wolfman, and Jerry Ordway’s Man of Steel #1–6, Superman #1–6, Adventures of Superman #424–429, and Action Comics #584–588, being more or less the Superman: The Man of Steel Vols. 1–3 collections, plus Legends #6 and pages from Legends #1–5 and Hawkman #10. Don’t call it a DC Finest TPB timeline but you can essentially read this around the DC Finest: Legends book.
- • DC Finest: Teen Titans: Terra in the Night! TP
Collects 1982 and 1983’s New Teen Titans ahead of “Judas Contract,” being issues #21–32, plus The New Teen Titans Annual #1, Tales of the New Teen Titans #1–4, a cameo appearance from Action Comics #536, and the three apparently “never-before-collected” Drug Awareness specials.
- • Deathstroke by Christopher Priest Omnibus (2026 Edition) HC
Being Christopher Priest’s fantastic run on Deathstroke, thoughtful and challenging and morally gray; honestly the new Deathstroke series has a lot to live up to. I really ought re-read this whole thing, but who has the time? Collects Deathstroke: Rebirth #1, Deathstroke #1–50, Deathstroke Annual #1, Titans #11, Teen Titans #8 and #28–30, Teen Titans: The Lazarus Contract Special, and a story from DC Universe Holiday Special 2017.
I reviewed these as Deathstroke Vol. 1: The Professional, Deathstroke Vol. 2: The Gospel of Slade, Deathstroke Vol. 3: Twilight, Deathstroke Vol. 4: Defiance, Deathstroke Vol. 5: The Fall of Slade, Batman vs. Deathstroke, Deathstroke: Arkham, and Deathstroke: RIP.
- • Green Lantern Corps Vol. 3: Guy Gardner - Born Again? TP
In paperback in November by Morgan Hampton and Fernando Pasarin, collecting Green Lantern Corps #14–19. I haven’t indeed read the second volume yet, but I am hopeful this is a step up from Green Lantern Corps Vol. 1: New World Rising, which I didn’t find particularly gripping.
- • Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps by Robert Venditti Omnibus Vol. 1 HC
Collects Green Lantern: Lost Army Sneak Peek, Green Lantern: Lost Army #1–6 (by Cullen Bunn), Green Lantern Corps: Edge of Oblivion #1–6 (by Tom Taylor), and Robert Venditti’s Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps: Rebirth #1, and Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #1–21.
This was Venditti’s second run on a Green Lantern title, after he had the unenviable job of following Geoff Johns on Green Lantern proper. Venditti was obviously up for the task, writing 30-some issues there and 50-plus here. I liked Venditti’s Hal Jordan, and I said artist Rafa Sandoval “is a excellent addition to the title, giving Hal and the other characters a youthful energy that they haven’t always had.”
In the main, this is Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps Vol. 1: Sinestro’s Law, Vol. 2: Bottled Light, and Vol. 3: Quest for Hope.
- • José Luis García-López's DC Classics Artist's Edition HC
Seven complete stories with art by José Luis García-López, plus pages and pinups, compiled by Scott Dunbier.
- • Justice League of America: The Bronze Age Omnibus Vol. 4 HC
Collects Justice League of America #183–206, plus tie-in stories from Action Comics #534–535, Wonder Woman #291–293, New Teen Titans #4, Fury of Firestorm #4, and Flash #289–293, and also the “Secret Origin of the Justice League” minicomic sold through the Leaf Candy Company.
- • Justice League Unlimited Vol. 4: Villain Amnesty HC
- • Justice League Unlimited Vol. 4: Villain Amnesty TP
In hardcover and paperback in December, following the events of DC K.O.. This collects Justice League Unlimited #17–22. It is appealing to see Justice League as a flagship, “this is what happens next in the DCU”-type book again.
- • New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol. 3 (2026 Edition) HC
The catalog solicitation for this had the piecemeal contents that comprised the first New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol. 3, before wiser heads prevailed (see “New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol. 3 – Lies, Damn Lies, and Omissions”. As expected, per these solicitations, this is actually a reprint of the second New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol. 3, which is Tales of the Teen Titans #42–58, the Annual #3, and New Teen Titans Vol. 2 #1–9, which is altogether better.
- • Nightwing: Year One TP
In paperback in November, a reprint of Chuck Dixon, Scott Beatty, and Scott McDaniel’s Nightwing #101–106. I reviewed Nightwing: Year One 20 years ago, in 2006.
- • The Peril of the Brutal Dark: An Ezra Cain Mystery TP
In paperback in October, the new Vertigo series by Chris Condon and Jacob Phillips, collecting issues #1–6. I liked Condon’s Green Arrow Vol. 4: Fresh Water Kills, I’m bummed it didn’t last very long, and I want everyone to know about it.
- • Preacher Compendium One TP
Collects Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s Preacher #1–33, plus Preacher Special: Saint of Killers #1–4 and Preacher Special: Cassidy - Blood & Whiskey #1. This is essentially the same as the Preacher hardcover and paperback Book One–Book Three, or the Preacher: The 25th Anniversary Omnibus Vol. 1.
- • Robin & Batman: Jason Todd TP
Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen’s three-issue miniseries, in paperback following the hardcover. I found Robin & Batman: Jason Todd problematic, but yes, I’d still read a third one with Tim Drake.
- • Rorschach by Tom King and Jorge Fornés: Deluxe Edition HC
As I said in my review, “If you were sad that Damon Lindelof didn’t make a second season of TV’s Watchmen but couldn’t imagine what it might’ve been about,” then Tom King’s Rorschach would be your answer. If you haven’t read it already, now’s the time; I’ve been itching a bit to read it again. Coming in deluxe hardcover in December.
- • Superman: Action Comics: Vol. 2: Reign of the Superboys - Future Shock TP
Issues #1096–1100, in paperback in November. As I understand it, “Reign of the Superboys” is more a thematic umbrella than an actual event, which is why this is separate from the Superman, Superman Unlimited, and Supergirl issues. Still, indeed, does not include the Summer of Superman special. I am early in reading Mark Waid’s first Action Comics “Superboy” volume at the time of this writing.
- • Swamp Thing by Rick Veitch Book Three HC
Collects Swamp Thing #80–87, Swamp Thing Annual #5, and Swamp Thing 1989 #1–4, Rick Veitch’s formerly unpublished issues #88–91. I do wonder if Swamp Thing 1989 will also get a collection of its own.
- • The Warlord by Mike Grell Omnibus Vol. 2 HC
Coming in November, collecting Warlord #37–71, Warlord Annual #1, (no longer listed, DC Sampler #2 and DC Special Blue Ribbon Digest #10). This is the end of Grell’s Warlord run, though the series continued to issue #133. Somebody tell me about the paper controversy?
- • Wonder Woman Vol. 5: The Wonder War Act 1 TP
La, la, not looking at any spoilers. This is issues #31–36 by Tom King, Daniel Sampere, and company, in paperback in November. Seems like there’s big doings in this regard elsewhere in the solicitations.
- • World's Finest: The Deluxe Edition (2026 Edition) HC
Dave Gibbons and Steve Rude’s 1990 three-issue World’s Finest was one of my formative early comics. Aside from the sheer majesty of looking like it was cut from a Fleischer cartoon, it’s also the best kind of team-up story, that pairs not only the heroes but also their antecedents among their supporting casts. Well worth checking out.
